
Patrice Matchaba was seven years old when his father was hospitalized with stomach ulcers. Helpless as he was and fearing he would lose his father, Matchaba resolved to become a physician. In the 40 years since, Patrice Matchaba has not only achieved an eminent reputation as a medical scientist. In his role as Global Head of Corporate Responsibility at Novartis, he has also led numerous initiatives focusing on the social determinants of healthcare, such as Beacon of Hope – a new partnership including twenty-seven historically Black colleges to address health disparities among Black Americans.
