The COVID-19 pandemic was an unlikely stroke of luck for S. as it helped him escape a crisis of another kind: living in a part of the world in which open hatred against lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex people is commonplace. With support from Novartis management, he relocated to a place where he feels comfortable and is living the open life to which he has always aspired.
