
Besides financial barriers that hinder many African Americans from seeking professional medical help, the community’s relationship with healthcare institutions is also marked by a troubled past, which further undermines access to medicines and care. In Baltimore, the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, a part of one of the world’s most renowned schools of nursing, is trying to remedy this situation by participating in Engage with Heart, an outreach program sponsored by Novartis.
