Science is always there

Nobel Prize winner Katalin Kariko, who was on Campus in early summer for a Novartis Lecture, had to stomach many setbacks during her career. Already in her schoolyears, she had to overcome major obstacles after a teacher threatened that he would block her entry to the university. Such challenges would return frequently during her career, which she spent on researching mRNA technology. Irrespective of the many roadblocks she faced, Kariko learned to develop a stoic spirit, which helped her stay in the game, save the world from the grip of the pandemic and winning the highest accolades in science.
