Structure and serendipity

Serendipity brought Shiva Malek to the United States, to science and cancer research. But even as chance played its hand many times during her life and career, her research is anything but fortuitous. Guided by a structural approach to biology, the Global Head of Oncology at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research is driven by a deep care for patients, which she describes as the north star of her work.
